Danny: you're live sessions are helping me win games that I wouldn't normally win. It's the simple advice working up to a middle game that is helping me: (1) I'm up a pawn, my opponent is the one who has to prove something so why don't I set up a strong structure, controls a lot of central squares and see what my opponent has in mind. (2) keep the tension, force my opponent to make the trades (3) work to equalize the threats. (4) my opponent is attacking like a madman, but look what it is doing to his king and pawn structure, how can I take advantage of that (5) not rushing the pawn breaks. I am beating much stronger blitz opponents with your advice. Thank you.
whats wrong with the last move, Kc6?
I don't want to be redundant, but I'm surprised and quite disappointed that the video is not even HERE, on my iPad with Google Chrome. First time encountering this. It is however playing on the iPad ap. As for longer than 20 min. videos, if I or anybody finds them too long we can break it up into two sessions ourselves. At least that way we would have the choice. I personally don't like others making decisions for me where the choice could be left up to me, all other things being equal, e.g. Danny doesn't mind doing 30-40 min. videos... So yeah, I say strict rules and not at least being able to shy away from them once in a while as an exception, is unnecessary and just generally uncool...as in, too "corporate", and none of us want to be THAT, now do we?! We're chess players! We spend numerous (generally very unproductive) HOURS daily on this site/hobby/obsession...(fill in your own noun here). So CDC Mgmt...get off Danny's back and let him do what he feels like! He's the reason (I am sure) why a significant percentage of your Diamond and other paying members members decided to invest in your site in the first place.
Lol. Life is simply miserable without a functional chess.com app. Im on android so maybe its just an android app issue as people seem to have no complaints with the iPhone.
Indeed it does Evan! I thought of it in my head after reading your comment and thought that Kc8 after Bc7+ would attack b7, but forgot black's bishops was hanging on e3 in the end ...
Sorry to those whose lives we are destroying with our terrible Iphone app ... I don't think it's so bad ...
Nice ending there! An unexpected finish - nice to see you finally find the pepetual I would never have seen it myself, great game! The post-game analysis was nice and instructive too, and yes - we DO WANT 40-min video's Danny!!
Its not the size of the wave but the motion of the ocean.
Tell your boss I'm all for the longer videos.
Working on the mobile device issues? It used to work fine and now it doesn't. Shouldn't take this long to resolve. If you need a competent IT manager then get off the stick and get it done lol.
The chess.com iPhone app is definitely not terrible, it's amazing. I don't disconnect in live and the videos are fine. I mainly use it to practice tactics trainer though or play online, which I have had no problems with. The app is great.
the chess.com app has always been terrible. Live chess constantly disconnects. The videos are a mess on the app. Some don't even load. When you search by category on the app it will pull up opening videos when you search for endgame videos. I love chess.com, but they desperately need to improve the mobile app.
i have not been able to view any videos lately.
when i click on the video i get the "coments" page.
Good endgame advice. thanks
how come every time i choose a lesson to watch it brings me to this page
Keep the forty minute videos!
Doesn't Bc7+ just win after Rb6 ? :P
And everyone should know we are currently experiencing some issues with the App (iOs and Andriod) as well as Smarth-Phone/Tablet playing. We are working on them!
Your patience is appreciated...
Yeah Evan, I guess my practical defensive chances were better than I realized. I actually saw that line later after I had already analyzed the game (the one ending with the skewer of your King and Queen).
However, I think 39...Rc6+ followed by 30...Rb6! on 40. Kd5 might also be good for you? Maybe I have good chances there too .
Either way, great fight!

Joining Danny right where we left him, we are immediately faced with the critical decision of who/what to trade in order to keep the best drawing (or maybe even winning) chances alive. Does Danny make the right decision after black trades on d1, finding a way to hold on? Or does black's f-pawn prove to be the difference? Stick around for the post game review and take notes on the importance of "active endgame choices"!
