"Kings" Tournament Starts In Bucharest

Vassily Ivanchuk leads the the 2012 Kings Tournament after beating Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu.

The popular Ukrainian put his recent loss to Anatoly Karpov in Cap d'Agde behind him to make the perfect start in the first round in Bucharest.

The other game between Veselin Topalov and Fabiano Caruana was a hard fought draw.

The time control in operation is 40 moves in 2 hours, followed by 20 moves in 1 hour, and then 15 minutes to a finish with a 30 second increment after the second time control.

    Topa is coming alive again! It was a draw, but definitely a creative entertaining bout all the same. Good stuff in both games.

    Ivanchuk Vassily, a beautifull mind. He reminds me of John Nash. Only after you see this guy in action you can understand why they call him "Planet Ivanchuk"
