ThanksGM Bojkov for an instructive and entertaining video featuring the late, great GM Gligoric!

PS: A smaller board option would be nice, am I missing that?   IM ekw

As a matter of fact, YES. Try looking next to White's 2nd rank on the K-side of the bd for the "Video size: Large - Small" buttons

@PhilipCavanagh Actually, Levy's book is really a good one. Though, the one which stands out is the book "I play against pieces" written by Gligoric. If I am not mistaken, the last edition in English was in 2002. That edition consists of 130 games, with detailed notes and game backgrounds covering the period from 1939 to 1990.

The title itself was Gligoric's credo during all those years.

Grew up playing over his games and it's great to know that you are introducing the late great GM Gligoric to another generation of players ... they will benefit greatly from his play and your insights into it. I find it fascinating that Fischer was drawn to Gligoric perhaps Fischer knew what is was like to grow up without a father ... basically he was on his own.  Maybe that fact strengthened their bond and friendship?

I have a copy of Gligoric's autobiography (if there are others please correct me), called Svetozar Gligoric's Chess Career 1945-1970, written by David N.L. Levy, in 1972, published by Collins London and Glasgow. There's a picture of him on the back cover, he looks like he's in the band Yello. :)

There was an autobiography of Gligoric about his life and chess games. I read some of it once. I have forgotten the title; it was about 1990!

    In it the author said:

    1. Gligoric likes to have knights rather than bishops.

    2. Gligoric has been a lifelong maestro of the King's Indian Defence.

Also he was one of rare friends of Bobby Fischer. When Bobby first arrived in Europe in 1959, he got attached to Gligoric, especially because he was trying to be safe from all the players from the USSR, and at that time the only two other non Soviet players which were equally strong as Soviet ones were Gligoric and Reshevsky (but Sammy and Bobby were far from friends as we know very well)

Gligoric had a very important (not to say decisive) role in Fischer`s come back in 1992, and he was his second for that return match with Spassky...

I'm so glad you are doing a video on Gligoric.  I saw one of his games a few months ago and was so impressed by how logical and simple his plans seemed to be.  A truly great player!  Also, he fought in the resistance in WWII against the Nazis.  A great player and hero!  And please do not be offended by some goof who has only been on the site for 3 weeks.
