Second Anand vs World Match Ends Undecided

Last Sunday World Champion Viswanathan Anand played a match against the World via Chess.com's “Vote Chess” platform. Unfortunately the game could not be finished due to technical problems, but the Indian legend did join Chess.com/TV afterwards to share his thoughts about the final position.

Anand was the head instructor at the 3rd Metropolitan Chess Camp which was held from July 10th to July 14th at The Radisson Hotel at Los Angeles Airport – teaching the various groups at the camp. Alongside him, other coaches at the camp included Grandmasters Vadim Milov, Dejan Bojkov and Melikset Khachiyan.

On Sunday morning, July 14th the World Champion ended his instructional activities by playing a simultaneous exhibition. One of the simul boards was dedicated to the Chess.com community. In an aggregate style of play, the community voted for their suggested move, and the move that got the most votes was played.

The World Champion played the white pieces and "The World" had 3 minutes to vote on their move choice. Chess.com had a relayer to play the World's moves on the actual board for Anand as he moved from board to board during the simul.

Here's the game:

Unfortunately Chess.com experienced some unexpected technical (server) problems which eventually forced us to abort the game. Anand, however, graciously joined IM Daniel Rensch on Chess.com/TV afterwards to share his thoughts about the final position. The game was short, but thanks to the World Champion's insightful and instructive comments it was still an unforgettable experience!

For the second time, Chess.com LLC and Metropolitan Chess, Inc. partnered up to make this event possible. You can view last year's game here.

    @ Indian_tiger_24:

Anand had one loss and one draw at the simul in Los Angeles -- the rest were wins.  So if there were 20 boards (I don't know if that includes the online board), I suppose that would be a score of 18.5/20.

good for your description but bad for the unwanted problem! However it was a great exprience for me. Request Chess.com to repeat such games with another CMs (I'm sure many CMs are ready to play against the World via Chess.com...)

Could someone please comment on what was the final score of simultaneous exhibition? How many games Anand won?

Glad to read this posting! Finally, Chess.com did explain what happened on the board during the match. Thanks for your clarification, webmaster! I think a lot of people had a very high expectation about the match and never thought that such technical problems would occur to Chess.com, proclaimed to be the biggest online chess community. Well, it is what it is. It happened right here on Chess.com. Let's just expect the better in the future. Cool

World Champion GM Anand is chess's great ambassador and it was an honor to play him and hear his thoughts on our game. To me the game mattered less than the special visitor.

IM Rensch is the coolest commentator. Otherwise, the experience sucks.

"chess.com/tv is only for diamond members and above?"
    This is what i see:

So, if you are not a diamond member, you can go on livesteam.com and review the old videos.

    this is the video:

@Chess.com Staff, please fix this, it should be platnum members as well.

The accusations against Anand are ridiculous.

Vishy Anand and chess.com must be as upset as everyone else about this. It's okay, the rematch next year will make up for it when we lose to Carlsen ;P

Err... is there a video of Anand's thoughts on the game and is it viewable?

I'm sure that the problem was totally unexpected and chess.com did their best on it.

I'm a big fan of Daniel Rensch. Great job! Some people have overheated themselves about the issue, but I'm sure the best heads were working the problem.
